Prior to joining Summit, Ms. McGowan was a Senior Account Manager for Acordia since 2001. Her primary responsibilities included servicing the larger self-funded accounts, maintaining and providing Clients monthly, quarterly, and yearly experience reports, and assisting clients in gathering any requested information. Additional responsibilities include researching and preparing presentation materials for clients and prospects; drafting bid specifications, setting and monitoring carrier deadlines and responses, conducting carrier rate negotiations, monitoring new carrier implementation, conducting multi-state enrollment meetings, checking policy coverages, resolving policy coverages and other area of concern for client administrators, their employees and insurance carriers. Servicing accounts daily and attending monthly and quarterly clients meetings.
In 1996, Ms. McGowan joined The Segal Company as a claims auditor and was promoted to senior claims auditor in 1998. Her responsibilities included traveling throughout the United States to various insurance carriers and third party administrators to conduct administrative and claim adjudication audits for corporate and governmental clients. Her reviews included analysis of medical, dental, prescription drug, vision, life and disability benefit programs. The reviews were conducted to ensure appropriate system programming parameters, adherence to the summary plan description provisions, and internal controls were in place. Upon completion of the reviews, reports were prepared and results were presented to the clients.
Ms. McGowan entered the health insurance field in 1986. Her experience includes on-line claims processing, supervision of a claims processing department for a third party administrator and client services manager which included serving as a liaison between clients, the third party administrator, and ancillary services.
